Dario Castagno is an Italian [Tuscan] writer, and he's the author of: A Day in Tuscany, Too Much Tuscan Sun, Too Much Tuscan Wine, An Osteria in Chianti.

his books are full of nice stories, adventures, humor... and I'm sure that these books are for everybody who likes, or not much, Italy ;) [I'll try to write you more about Dario's books soon.]

at the meeting he talked a lot about his books of course but also about Italy and about magic place - Chianti [history and life]. during his talks, it was possible to watch films shot by him about Chianti, life in this place and people from there.

I'm sure that people who came there to this meeting had a nice time bettwen his words, images from films and of course atmosphere of this place. why? because everything was too good, especially all Dario's stories after which you just wanted to go to Tuscany haha :) ok, to be honest, I've this emotion all the time - I want to go there soon.

and after 'officially' part of meeting, was something better: face-to-face with writer!

and Matras...my fav bookshop forever&ever :)

anyway, on Matras' page I chose a few pics from this meeting [ more: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.616996904983037.155043.120162027999863&type=3

Artist of the day : Darren Campbell

quick question - do you know Darren Campbell?
I don't think so because he's not too famous yet (and that's badly but I really hope it'll change soon, very soon) and I'm sure that most of you would say: 'no, I didn't hear about him'. that's why today I would like to present to you young, talented Scottish musician and songwriter as an artist of the day - Ladies and Gents, make some noise for Darren Campbell.

as for me Darren is one of these people who can give something - you know, something special with their music and words. I listened to all his songs and I was (and I still am) between 'wooow' and 'holy crap, that's so great!'. his songs have something what causes that you're impressed because of everything - lyrics and music - and you just must listen to them, from beginning to end.

I know, my opinion isn't everything, and that's why I wrote to Darren with a few questions about him, his music and his plans for the future...and two days later I got reply from Darren - woow!

ok, let's see what he said...

could you say a few words about yourself?
Darren: I'm Darren and I am a part time singer songwriter from Scotland, looking to make it fulltime.

why did you become a musician?
D: Simply because I love palying and sharing my music with people.

how would you describe your music style?
D:  Pop/Acoustic/rock

do you have music idols? do you want to be like them?
D: There is nobody I wasn to be like musically, i feel i have a unique sound. But I love loads of artists and bands such as Ben Howard, Lewis Watson and The Dangerous Summer.

from where are you getting idea/inspiration for new songs?
D: This is a hard one, my songs and ideas just sort of come to me when I am palying guitar. Very rarely do I sit down and write on a speicific subject intentionally.

your songs are for... exactly, for whom?
D: That would be telling!! But everyone will interperet my songs in their own way.

I listened to your songs and I think they're really cool and positive. are you going to write/record songs in such a style?
D: Yes I am keeping to this style, and thank you!

what would you say about your debut EP 'Days to come'*?
D: Its a 4 track EP with four catchy style songs. Track1,3 and 4 are a similair poppy style but I feel track 2 "Better Things" is more rocky/pop punk.

why is it worthwhile to listen to your music?
D: This is a hard one to answer, I feel my music can be enjoyed by most people. I have fans that listen to metal and hardcore for example.

when will it be possible to listen to your new songs?
D: I have a new single "Growing Apart," which will hopefully be released in the next week or so. Its going to have a music video too!

what with your next EP or album - are you planning recording something like that?
D: I am focussing on singles for the next year so haven't thought about another EP , but there will be plenty of new songs.

with whom would you like to cooperate in the future(if you had such a possibility)?
D: I'm not too sure, I am trying to focus on writing my own songs at the moment but in the future it would be great to collaborate with some femaile vocalists.

do you have some tour in your plans?
D: At the moment I am planning on getting my name out in Scotland then hopefully paly over the rest of the UK.

and what now? do you have some plans for the nearest future?
D: Right now I am preparing to release my new song "Growing Apart," and I am the starting the video to the single that will be released after that!

do you want to say something to your fans or people who just got to know you?
D: Yes! Thank you so much for the support and please share my music with your friends! I appreciate it :)

interesting, isn't it?

as you see he's very talented singer and songwriter, who will give us a lot of wonderful songs - I'm sure of it. why? oh, please... cool songs, awesome music, amazing lyrics, great vocal - everything what you need to happiness. and that's why I think he still still surprise us: with new songs, with new dose of energy. personally, I can't wait to listen to his new sounds soon.

I just fell in love with his music, to be honest :)

I want to thank Darren for his courtesies, so quickly reply on my questions and for his help with this post - what was really nice. and I want to wish Darren all the best - more successes, only great songs & albums and more cool fans, who will love his music. and just good and happy times in his life.
also I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him, his future and successes.

Album of the day : Jeff Buckley - Grace

today I would like to present you remarkable album Grace by amazing Jeff Buckley.

Grace is first and  unfortunately the only one full album recorded by him (late 1993 and 1994) and finally released on 23 August 1994. style of this album is alternative rock and we can find there 11 wonderful songs.

Grace is one of the most passionate and spiritual albums I have ever heard, and as for me is one of the best CD's of the last decade. each track on that album has something amazing inside - atmosphere, emotions, wonderful melodies and excellent lyrics. and Jeff's perfect and  remarkable voice - extreme intensity and emotional - is hypnotizing all the time, frome the firts to the last second of that album.

what we can find there? mix of everything what's the best. a bit of rock, f.e. So real, Eternal life and Grace, slower rhythms f.e. Lover, you should of come over, Corpus Christi Carol, Mojo Pin, Lilac Wine, Forget her and of course Hallelujah. also we have there Dream brother and  Last goodbye - mix of good sounds.

four singles were released from the album (all in 1995): Grace, Last goodbye, So real, Eternal life.

I don't know why, but everybody knows him only because of Hallelujah. of course, this song is perfect and his performing this song is beautiful, but hey - whole album is just epic, not only one song. and that's sad. that's sad when people know you one because of one song, not because of what you did. you are that person from that song. that's not fair, really.

Jeff was just  brilliant musician, who could do so much, chance music world, give more amazing song with all his emotions and vocal. I think Jeff was, and still is, one of these persons, who appear once in a few years to give other people talent, magic and something more to change their souls and lives.

yes, his songs and his voice can change your life.

Grace and Jeff are giving you  incredibly spiritual, romantic feel, what you can't describe but you can feel it. and that's just amazing.

Grace is just a wonderful treasure of music, lyrics, melodies, and that hauntingly beautiful voice, which can change your life, your soul & mind, your whole world. it's just travel to the secret place with all emotions and dreams, where you can find what are you looking for - pure, wonderful, real music and voice.

Album of the day : Rhyme 'The Seed and the Sewage'

Ladies and Gents,
today I would like to recommend you and say a few words about album The Seed and the Sewage by great Italian band Rhyme.

as you remember I wrote a few about them [http://xgosiax.blogspot.com/2012/07/rhyme-artist-of-day.html], their previous album Fi(r)st [http://xgosiax.blogspot.com/2012/08/album-of-day-rhyme-first.html] and I gave you short interview with Gab and Rik from Rhyme, where you could read a few words from them about new album and work above it [http://xgosiax.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-seed-and-sewage-by-rhyme.html].

so let's talk about  The Seed and the Sewage.
after almost two months from the premiere I finally got my own (now) album The Seed and the Sewage - hell yes!

so what we have there? mmm, I think I could say that everything what's the best and it would be truth to be honest. at first I thought it would be a bit similar to Fi(r)st but The Seed and the Sewage is really different, not only because of lyrics but because of music also.
to be honest they really surprised me because this album is just sensational and recommendable.

on the album you can find 11 really great songs - energetic rhythms, great vocal, super lyrics - songs, which will dominate your mind from the first second to the last, from the first song (Manimal) to the last one (cover of Depeche Mode - Wrong).

tracklist

Manimal
The Hangman
Blind Dog
Slayer To The System
Fairytopia
Party Right
Brand New Jesus
World Underground
Nevermore
Victim Of Downturn
Wrong
(Depeche Mode cover)

I wondered, how it will sound, their version of Wrong, which is epic and made by music geniuses...and it was another surprise for me, positive surprise. damn, their version of this song is great! I can't say anything bad about it, I have only good words in my mind.

every song on The Seed and the Sewage has really aawesome guitars riffs, great vocal and of course drums. and I think that every song from this album could be #1 because they're just awesome.
I can't say 'ok, this song is the best, these are good, and that one is bad' because for me whole album is  brilliant.

I must say one thing - if you like good music, good metal or heavy rock - this album is made for you. The Seed and the Sewage is something like 'shut up, listen to it and enjoy!'.

I really wonder how these songs will be sound on live and that's why I can't wait to see them and just be at their show soon.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for them - Gabriele, Matteo, Riccardo & Vinny - their future history and new songs/album/shows and I wish them only successes in the future.

you can listen to The Seed and the Sewage here: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/the-seed-and-the-sewage/id581367509  - enjoy! \m/
